Abbie Senter Honored!

Itawamba Community College celebrated its sixth annual National Day on Writing, Oct. 25 at the Fulton Campus.

Area high school students from Chickasaw, Itawamba, Lee, Monroe and Pontotoc counties were invited to participate. 

Winning high school submissions were chosen in each of the six categories in which the students could compete. Abbie Senter submitted an entry for the short story category. A reception was held from 5:30-7:30 p.m. in the Writing Center located in the Crubaugh Technical Education Building on the Fulton campus.  Awards were presented at 6pm.  Abbie received first place for her short story entry, "Different Worlds".  She was presented with a journal and a kindle fire. Comments about her work included: "The dialogue is mature, believable and helps propel the action of the story" and "The characters are introduced well. Overall the reader leaves this excerpt waiting for more.  Looking forward to the next bit".
